When we left Grand Tetons, the day had already started seeing grizzly bears. Could it get any better? Yes, in fact. Yellowstone is quite famous, also in Austria and probably all over the world. You couldn’t believe, how many pictures we made and how difficult it was to separate them. There are so many impressions we would like to share.
We entered the park from the south and were deeply impressed by landscape: Beautiful lakes, waterfalls, canyons, hot steam spreading out of the ground and plenty of animals (no elks, but one day we get you 😉 ). So we stopped at the Lewis Lake and for a while at the Yellowstone lake. Then we continued going to the Old Faithful Geyser. Hundreds of people were waiting for the eruption. And then … OK, not so spectacular.
Afterwards we did a short walk on the Geyser Hill. It was quite interesting, looking at these colorful hot springs. We visited some other spots going north, pretty cool. We knew that it’s impossible to get a campsite at late noon. One guy at a campsite recommended us one State Park a few miles north of the west entrance. We were lucky to get the last one there.
We’ve been the first seeing a black bear about 40 meters away. You can’t believe how fast a traffic jam can occur. It took about three minutes and everything was blocked 😉 So we got our good pictures and went back to our campsite.
The next day we continued our travels. Filled with so many impressions and maybe tears in the eyes … We wish everybody has the chance to see the Yellowstone at least once in a life!
