First of all we booked a Hostel just for a few days. Then we got a message from the shipping agency: The ship with our truck is delayed for one week. At this time we’ve been really disappointed: What shall we do in Baltimore for more than one week? We cought a cab at the bus station and went to our hostel in the centre. The funny and nice driver told us to stay at the Eastside, if we wanna leave the city alive 😉 Especially there was a Baseball match at the same afternoon: Baltimore Oriols against New York Yankees. We fetched some cheap tickets and so it started: The first baseball game we’ve ever seen. Thousands of people having fun, making waves and drinking beer … It was a pleasure! After the game we went to the Inner Harbor. It was the last day of the “B’More – Light The City” festival. Great live acts were entertaining thousands of people. We checked out some bars, also with great live bands. Wow! We’ve never believed in that great B’More Baltimore.
The next days we were not so busy, because we had plenty of time. We did several day (and hours) trips in the city and had a good time: Enjoying a great view from Federal Hill to the Inner Harbor, playing Frisbee at Fort Collins, geting on top of the Washington Monument, visiting the eldest basilica in US and some really cool museums , … The Walters Museum has a great collection from all over the world (and it’s free!). We also got crazy impressions at the American Visionary Art Museum and were excited of the size of a T-Rex skeleton at the Science museum.
Many thanks to HI Hostelling for the great time there (especially to Chrystal!). Their Business is nonprofit and it’s not usual nowadays! They arrange trips every day showing the travelers the real heart of the city – low budget and fun! We had a amazing few from the top of an university, saw great graffiti and young guys making them, tasted beer in a local brewery, seen a (worse!) comedy show, … Enjoying tacos at pasta Thursday 😉 and meeting cool guys and getting out with them. Yes, it’s true: B’More Baltimore!
