So many things were passing our head. Minding back more than 18 months… We got long days at work, saving money and long nights preparing our trip. And now … a dream got real! On the road again! Discover! Realize Enjoy!
Shenandoah was the first destination we headed. Busy traffic, realizing different rules on the road and being the (probably) slowest vehicle. A bit sad (cant’t give a battle with a regulated truck in Austira again), but we enjoyed! 55 mph! It does not depend to the destination, it depends on the way how to get there. No pressure, no stress on time!
We heared about Walmart, but we’ve never seen one. It was our first destination, because we had nothing. A “naked truck” needed food and cook interior. So we arranged propaine and food. Sure, and something to drink. It took at most more than two/three hours finishing our goods for going on. We were impressed in how many ways you can pack your counted groceries. First of all we bought garbage bags, but we realized that we don’t need any, when we keep the shopping bags. And it worked all the time!
It was funny driving first time on a interstate and then to ride an unpaved bumpy road. We’re offroad, but not 4WD 😉 So we arrived at our first campsite close to Winchester in Virginia. It was a pleasure to be in the out-of the-nowhere. Enjoying silence, out of traffic and “civilization”.
We complained: Too much sun in the face! Just kidding! Awesome! Next day we did the famous Park Way Drive at Shenandoah. Beautiful, but too early at season. Rare vegetation, mostly smoggy, sometimes raining and cold. But we met a nice couple, Javier and Lara, also travelling across the country. Filled with impressions we continued our journey. A visit to Luray Caverns was it worth to stop. Mind freaking stalactites and stalagmites! So many hundred thousands of years hidden under Earth.
