The never sleeping town Sin City!

Remembering plenty of crazy films we’ve seen and stories we heard, we headed to Sin City. Listening to Elvis Presley´s “Viva Las Vegas …” we entered that outstanding city in the middle of desert. We parked at a campsite in the city and prepared us for the arrival of our three loaded Austrian friends Dave, Bumi and Martin. Scared of the show that will happen we picked them up at the airport.

At beginning of these days we never believed in that you can lose the feeling for time in such kind, especially for five days!  It doesn’t matter what time it is, because there is program all day and all night long. First night we were wondering, because it was suddenly 8:00 am morning. Trying to get some sleep in the van with that heat was nearly impossible. So we drove to the parking lot of the hotel Excalibur, where our friends were accommodated. Never been so happy to sleep on a floor before! We just enjoyed the air conditioned room.

Next morning was the best time to make a day trip to the Red Rock Canyon National Monument. So we started early and prepared breakfast at a parking lot in the canyon. First we wanted do a little hike, but it got terrifying hot even at 10:00 in the morning. Nobody was further interested in to get melted by the sun. So we went to the Hover Dam. Wow, this construction is so impressive how it keeps this tremendous amount of water. It was until a few years with 220 meter height the biggest dam on world.

At evening we went for dinner and spent the whole night walking around and gambling in the casinos. Some guys lost and some won some money, but not very tragic amounts. You always get free drinks when you play Black Jack and over hours you get definitely drunk. 😛 One night we watched a show in the pyramid of the Luxor hotel and walked around the whole night visiting the famous casinos Paris, Bellagio, Caesars Palace, Flamingo, … not for gambling, just to see the perverse luxury of these places. We know definitely these hotels are not our price class. Get away quickly!

It was a pity that Antonia left us after four days Las Vegas. She just had a few days left before her flight goes back from Los Angeles. We understood that she wanted to see some other places at her last remaining days. She rented a car and went to Grand Canyon. It was a pleasure to meet this nice girl and to travel with her. Of course we will meet her again when we are back in Europe. We think she also enjoyed traveling with us, because she got a new tattoo in Las Vegas: Our 508erin! 🙂

One night we went for dinner at Hooters. We had much fun and spent nearly the whole night there with ordering several pitchers of beer. Thank you Las Vegas, it was enough! Our liver hurt and the pockets were empty. 😉 No, it wasn’t so tragic! We expected to need three times more money for this few days. Also many thanks to our three Austrian friends for visiting us (and accommodation 😉 )! We are looking forward to see you in Austria again, only a few months remaining.
